The advantages experienced by the organizations and any progressions they could have made to augment them are likewise referenced. Gracefully Chain Management (SCM): Gracefully chain the board comprises of organizing the material and data stream, and the accounts between the provider, maker and the customer. Its principle objective is stock decrease expecting that when items are required they are accessible. The gracefully organizes are comprised of Supplier-purchaser relationship. The progression of Supply chain the board streams can be partitioned into three sections: The item The instructive stream The money related stream The conduct of the gracefully chain is dynamic and is known as bullwhip impact. This implies if there are little changes occurring toward the finish of the flexibly chain they begin causing changes toward the beginning of the gracefully chain. The decrease of the bullwhip impact can be accomplished by: Proficiently circulating the data by associating all the activities to the interest source. Building up a comparative dynamic procedure along the whole flexibly chain. Expanding the productivity of the tasks by wiping out wellsprings of waste. Provider quality administration The fundamental need of any organization from their providers is the redemption of good quality items on correct time. The best act of improving the nature of item is by improving the nature of crude materials provided by providers. SQM can be executed by following the practices referenced underneath: Assessing and finding the expense caused because of poor provider quality: This is otherwise called COPQ (Cost of low quality). The COPQ can be determined from the accompanying: The expenses brought about due to rejecting and revamping. The shutdown of our sequential construction system because of damaged items. The expenses of delivery back the faulty items to providers and the guarantee costs. Building up a framework for recuperating our expenses: In this, the providers are charged back for providing low quality items. Here, we should incorporate the material expenses as well as the non-material costs like bundling inadequate items, their transportation costs, and so on. Inspecting and rating of providers: This is the best method of checking whether our providers are adjusting to our referenced procedures, quality frameworks, shipping, and so forth. It very well may be done once consistently for the entirety of our providers. They can make conveyance of better esteem and have rehash of business with the clients. They can without much of a stretch expel squander from the procedure. They get more turnover benefits and can make long haul arrangements for what's to come. Outline of Case concentrate for Supplying quick style: This contextual analysis best exhibits how the piece of clothing retailing business is completed in this dane age.It shows how the distinctive style thoughts which would not have been even considered by a retail location can become must-have in a brief period. The working of top retail marks like HM, Zara and Benetton is been clarified. It clarifies the faster picker-upper style idea which has made Zara, HM todays driving retailers. Reasons: To accomplish this study of quick design item advancement cycles need to pack, which should be possible through viable gracefully chain the executives. The retail marks accepted that the main way they can downplay stocks while satisfying the clients need rapidly and deftly was through the reconciliation of procedures along the flexibly chain All the best 3 brands have their gracefully chain partitioned in four phases Planning of pieces of clothing Assembling Appropriation to retail outlets Retail activities Planning: Planning is of outrageous significance in retailing market. The stores should convey high and quick style at a reasonable cost not modest expense. H M planning - It is done by group of 100 architects in Stockholm who work with gathering of 50 example originators, around 100 purchasers and many spending controllers. Zara planning: Here, the structure thought is gotten from three unique sources-the originators, showcase examiners and the purchasers who request transfers to providers. The plan stage for Zara is partitioned in three areas: Women, men and kids chlothes. The model structures are made and given a shot by putting all the three sources (originators, advertise investigators and purchasers) in little workshops. The market investigators catch the new happenings in the style showcase as they are consistently in contact with the retail locations. Along these lines Zaras retail locations are toward the beginning of the flexibly chain and not toward the end. Appropriation: The venture costs brought about by Zara and Benetton in mechanizing their distribution centers is high as they need them to be close to creation focuses which could store, pack and create autonomous requests for the system of retail locations around the world. Right now, Zara just uses half of its warehousing limit while Benetton is as yet investigating the chance of utilizing RFID labels for following pieces of clothing. The conveyance procedure at HM is as yet standard. The stock administration is completed inside and physical conveyance is sub-contracted. In HM, merchandise are steered to retail site from creation site through a travel terminal in Hamburg claimed by the HM itself. These merchandise are then examined and put away in a unified stock room known as cancel distribution center where stores are renewed on every thing level contingent upon what is sold. Assembling: Assembling expenses can be essentially diminished if there are decreased work costs. In this manner, the greater part of the Benettons fabricating tasks are done in Asia, North Africa and Eastern Europe. The costly mechanical activities are completed in exclusive Benettons locales though all the work concentrated tasks would be done by littler temporary workers. The focal Benetton office chooses how much and what is to be created by non-Italian systems. Comparable is the situation with HM, whose half creation is completed in Asia. They have 21 workplaces everywhere throughout the world which co-ordinate the provider exercises. The sound connection kept up among providers and creation workplaces permits them to purchase texture early. The genuine cutting and coloring of the articles of clothing completed at later stage. This aides in postponing position of a request, in this manner diminishing danger of buying incorrectly things. Zara possesses a lot of its assembling abilities which it can control to fulfill the client needs at short reaction. Practically half of Zaras creations, a large portion of which are costly tasks (cutting, coloring) are completed in plants possessed by Zara in Spain and like Benetton the work escalated activities are sub-letted to temporary workers. Volume adaptability is kept up by Zara and their sub-temporary workers utilizing a solitary move framework. Retail: This working is practically comparative between all stores.HM stores have normal size of 1300 sq.m and are claimed and overseen without anyone else. Zara stores are littler contrasted with HM with 800 sq.m size. The Benetton shops then again are 1300-1500 sq.m.Previously the stores used to be controlled by outsiders as little shops. In spite of the fact that there is contrast in size they all have comparative point of giving the client agreeable climate to cause them to feel at home and permit them to purchase what they need. Advantages: The retail marks had the option to accomplish an elevated level of joining utilizing flexibly chain the executives. This permits them to rapidly respond to clients request and be adaptable with least stocks posssible. They had the option to locate the right harmony between style, cost and quality(Each brand has their own feeling of design, cost and quality). The normal gracefully lead time accomplished was about3 weeks a half year. Of these 3 brands, Zara has accomplished most brief lead times called as catwalk to rack time which is as little as 15 days. This implies not a solitary piece of clothing in Zara store is more seasoned than about fourteen days. The structures are additionally not rehashed and are created in little clumps. This at last powers clients to abstain from deferring their buy and visit the store as often as possible lead to expanded benefits. Compelling Supply Chain Management has helped every one of the organization to turn into a worldwide brand picture in their o wn specific manner while keeping their creation costs low. Recommendations: In the assembling stage where the crude materials are provided by various providers a star rating framework can be utilized. In this technique a 3 star is given to that provider which has past record of achievement on flexibly factors set by organization itself. On opposite, no stars are given to them with whom organization has had certain issues previously. We can do this as appeared in provider estimation table underneath: Worth can be added to the retail business by customizing the requirements of client and improving client care by utilizing RFID innovation. To robotize the gracefully chain RFID can be utilized. This will help in labor red

Principles of Marketing

Principles of Marketing Principles of Marketing Home›Marketing Posts›Principles of Marketing Marketing PostsI have bought one food good which was low involvement product and I also hired a service of a residential chef which I considered high involvement product. My first product i.e. mineral water was basically a low involvement product simply because this is a product that I but frequently and in fact with very minimal thoughts about it and efforts simply because it is not of vital concern to me and it doesn’t have any big impact on my lifestyle. The second product that I bought which hiring the services of a resident chef, is considered to be a high involvement product in the sense that I don’t often buy those kind of services and whenever am buying them, I tend to give it much thought because it is of much concern to me.Before I hire the services of a residential chef am normally very particular especially the kind of training that they under went, the types of foods they can prepare. By using the five stage model of the Purchase Decision Process in the model of consumer buying behavior that is described in Module one ,here is a detailed description of the process I went through. To buy the low involvement product I didn’t give it much thought, fist I had a problem which was basically thirst, I really wanted to quench my thirst. When doing my information search immediately mineral water came on my mind as a way of solving the problem .The third stage which involves evaluation of the alternatives did not make me think hard enough about the alternatives available concerning the various brands because I though water is just water the brand was not an issue. After the purchase I dint give it much thought either, the post purchase evaluation of that product didn’t need much thought .Buying my second product, hiring the services of a residential chef was a bit tricky in the sense that it took a lot of time.I basically had a problem which required to be solved and when I went to do the information search I spend  a great deal of time thinking about what criteria I would use to I identify the best chef who will not make my life difficult and stress me for no good reason .At the stage of evaluation I basically had a lot of trouble in choosing the most qualified chef .The purchase process itself was characterized with a lot of complexities because various chefs and organizations that offer those kind of services had attractive prices but unfortunately they were not in   apposition to prepare my choice foods .The post purchase evaluation also got me thinking hard enough because I kept on thinking that I had made  the wrong decision to hire the services of a chef I didn’t know very well. The difference in the two processes is great in many ways. When buying a product that is high involvement and that is low involvement. When buying the low involvement product I spend very little time in evaluating the various options that had come my way. First of all I h ad a problem which simply wanted me to solve by not necessarily require me to give much thought after all, thirst is something that can be easily quenched by any kind of cold soft drink. According to Remenyi, D. (2007) when it comes to problem recognition for the low involvement product, the problem normally presents itself within a very short period of time unlike when it is a high involvement product. At the second stage of the purchase decision process which basically entails information search, the low involvement product did not take me much time to think about some of the alternatives that I would have used. The high involvement product which was about hiring the services of a residential chef ,took a great deal of time when I came to information search because apparently my ideal chef was to have a quite a number of attributes which took me a lot of time before I could arrive at. According to Kotler, P. and Armstrong, G. (2008)when it comes to evaluation of alternatives,a low involvement product doesn’t take much time and resource to go through some of the alternatives because if anything most of mineral water companies seem to have the same prices with very little variances. When I wanted to hire the services of a residential chef ,I had to look at it in a more critical way in the sense that ,hiring the services of one chef is not as low as that of the mineral water so I had to give it much thought  to avoid ending g up with very expensive service but not exactly what I wanted .The post â€"purchase evaluation of the low involvement product that I bought did not come with a lot of risks because even if at all the mineral water that I bought was to be unsatisfactory ,then I would have simply went and bought another brand to quench my thirst. For hiring the services of a residential chef the post purchase evaluation was characterized with a lot of risks because I kept on imagining about the los that I would have made upon realizing that I had hired the services of the wrong chef, the dissatisfaction is so profound .Hiring a another chef and firing one would have been such a big loss for me.Assuming that I am a marketer of both products I would use my in-depth understanding of the model of consumer buying behavior to market the product. The fist strategy that I would use will be to influence the probabilities of purchasing these products by being in a position to identify the various markets and segments of the product and the service. Another thing would be to assess the potential of the market by analyzing some of the competitive advantages .To successfully have a good understand some of my customers I will have to provide some specific goals and objectives for the actions that I will be intending to take. To be in a position to accurately know how successful my products and services would do in the market I will have to come up with measures for my intended success, to basically help me be in a position to evaluate my methods an d strategies that I would have employed.Like the model of consumer buying behavior suggest, I would incorporate the three concepts that are involved for instance the information processing, the purchase decision process and some of the influences. The first concept of how consumers process information can be enhanced by doing proper marketing which aims at giving the consumers enough exposure about the products and services I am selling .This can be done by capturing their attention, making them easily understand the product and services, accept it by retaining it in their memory so that whenever they have an urge and need to satisfy it, they simply go for my product or service.Another thing would be influencing their purchase decision process by making my products and services easily recognized by them through the provision of more information about my goods and services (Harrell.G. 2008).I would also make it easy for them to evaluate the various alternatives by simply coming up wi th criteria that favors my products and make them purchase my goods and services more easily by removing obstacles, explaining to them where, how and when to get my products and services. Last but not least to enable my customers have an easy time during the post purchase evaluation by making them know what’s important to about my products and alley all their fears.

Perfection in Pope’s An Essay on Man - 1822 Words

Alexander Pope envisioned a universe perfect by definition. Every facet of this universe is designed solely for its place in the hierarchy of existence, and is in fact perfect for its particular station. This idea of perfection in completeness is encompassed in the famous concluding words of the first epistle of Pope’s An Essay on Man: â€Å"Whatever IS, is RIGHT.† This aphorism, however, belies the effort Pope took to solidify his assertion. In order to substantiate his idea of a perfectly structured universe, Pope delineates—in extremely structured and formal heroic verse—an argument positing the failure of human reason, fettered as it is by ignorance and pride, in obtaining a proper idea of man’s station in the universe. This argument flows†¦show more content†¦Instead of saying, for instance, that the world is beautiful, but we cannot notice its beauty, that what is seemingly random is in fact purposeful, that what appears to be discord is in fact harmony, that what is apparently evil in context is in fact good overall, Pope crafts lines so beautiful, purposeful, harmonic, and good as to appear perfectly representative of the same ideas just expressed: All nature is but art, unknown to thee; All chance, direction, which thou canst not see; All discord, harmony not understood; All partial evil, universal good (289-92). The structure of Pope’s poem and the perfection of each individual line for its purpose clearly parallel his vision of the universe and consequently bolster his argument. Although An Essay on Man is brilliantly organized, so are all of Pope’s other poems. This structure does not of itself prepare the reader for the poem’s dramatic final assertion or even intimate the idea of a perfect universe. To ground this assertion, Pope writes nine stanzas before his conclusion, each detailing a particular idea related to those before it and after and supporting his eventual conclusion. When viewed in light of these nine expository stanzas, Pope’s dramatic culmination is not so dramatic after all. The essenceShow MoreRelatedAlexander Pope and Christianity1360 Words   |  6 PagesC.M. AIBO reminisces about his time in the Philippines and the speaker has dinner with the hospitable family. As the dinner ends, so does the Bias’s time with his only link back home. The lecturer bids goodbye and offers to pass on Bias’s sentiments to his family in the Philippines, which AIBO politely declines saying that nobody would remember him anyway and lets the lecturer go. Ovenbird Canton’s â€Å"The Scent of Apples† centers on the absence of the familiarity of home or the characteristics of what makes a place so, for example: for a Filipino Collections AIBO there is abundance of apple trees, while for the American men who went out to war there is the absence of great icy winds and the promise of winter; additionally the way Santos describes the setting further exemplifies this nostalgia and isolation from home. The absence of home is introduced by Canton’s description of the, which creates a somber tone by describing the memory their son who had gone away to war. Here his audience was composed of mostly women who had lost contact with the men deployed in the Philippines. Their situation is parallel to Bias’s, with his family closing their gates after him and his loss of contact with any Filipino for the past years, which emphasizes his isolation. Juxtaposing Ruth with the narrator’s commentary on the differences of Filipino and American women, and Bias’s description of Filipino women entails that there may be no differences between these groups of women at all. To emphasize Remarking on Ruth being described like a Filipino, she stays with AIBO even on the brink of death, while she herself was pregnant. The she maybe home that he finds in the US. In relation to the setting, his link to the Philippines no longer persists and the dinner with narrator was the Bias’s soiree with his old home, but his being released back into the cold and dark at the end implies that AIBO still Bias’s shanty home emphasizes this isolation in exile as well, since the house is located alone amidst an apple orchard miles away from the city. The narrator described the trip from Kalamazoo to the farm to be interminable; they disappeared wrought thickets, passed narrow lanes with unattractive, barren land covered in weeds, dead leaves and dry earth. Santos meaner to represent Bias’s distance from home through the interminable trip; furthermore the barren land, narrow lanes and weeds represent Bias’s affiliations in the Philippines – he no longer had any contact with his family and he has not talked to other Filipinos in years. The apple trees in the distance emphasize his being in a foreign place. The reader is reminded of this when AIBO comments on the beauty of autumn to which the narrator replies, â€Å"No such thing in our own country’ and the narrator reflects on the unkind comment and how AIBO must have avoided this fact for fear of being reminded of his exile. Once they arrive at the house the narrator notices how the house was ready to crumble. The inside was barren and decked with second-hand furniture and, the scent of apples pervaded he air – describing how even in his own home there is the reminder that he is a foreigner. In contrast to his home in the Philippine, biggest one in the Visalia town, which shunned him. Santos also uses autumn to influence the tone of the story. He opens the first paragraph with the old couple; he uses the description of icy winds, ghostly feet of fallen leaves and coming of down of the cold to nuance the theme of loneliness and abandonment. The autumn, being a season of fallen leaves and cold weather imposes transitory feeling brought by being away from someone. He also this when AIBO brings the narrator home for dinner the setting is described to be ineffectual and not too cold, which implicates a more positive mood in the text. Santos uses the coming winter, the cold and the dark to further highlight the feeling of abandonment hen the narrator finally says goodbye to AIBO, remarking that they would probably never see each other again. Ovenbird Santos brings to his audience the sentiments of nostalgia. The well-crafted short, â€Å"the Scent of Apples† very well articulates the loneliness of an immigrant. He does this through how he establishes the setting, through how he sets up the stage for the characters to move around and for the audience to get better feel of what Santos intended to impart. The loneliness is palpable in the setting and his use of it gives subtlety to the theme isolation in exile. How to cite Scent of Apples by Bienvenido Santos, Papers

Power Why Some People Have It

Power Why Some People Have It Power is a subject at the place of work that each person is aware of but it rarely features in most conversations. As such, Pfeffer does a great job in disclosing ways of succeeding and exercising power in the real world in this book.Advertising We will write a custom report sample on Power: Why Some People Have It-and Others Dont by Jeffrey Pfeffer specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More Pfeffer argues that most of the time, people tend to pay less attention on the development of their influence, and eventually their power, and this is what differentiates the winners from the losers. The well researched findings that he puts across correlates with some topics from the Custom Business Resources textbook. Geert Holfstedes studies inform us about the modes of behavior of other cultures so as to improve our ability of interacting with them and if the information is comprehended as it should be, this can lead to successful interpersonal relation ships that is free from frustrations. Similarly, in the book Power, Pfeffer, a Stanford professor, points out that ones quest for power is not a solo act. For someone to exert influence favorably, he or she needs to incorporate a lot of people in his or her power grab. And this can only be achieved by having successful interpersonal relationships, according to Geert Hofstede. The social responsibility of organizations obliges them to carry out activities that are advantageous to the society as a whole and they can do this either passively, by not undertaking socially dangerous activities, or actively, by participating in socially beneficial activities. In the same way, Pfeffer indicates that power is a compulsion that is not only advantageous to a person, but is also advantageous for the advancement of the goals of a company and those of the society as a whole. Ethics is an ingredient that makes organizations to undertake socially responsible actions and it assists in determining ho w the values and decisions of an organization influence the various stakeholder groups. In this regard, Pfeffer posits that powerful people who strive for fairness and justice can enhance the development of organizations. However, to achieve this, one must strive to perfect his or her reputations and conduct, without having to work hard. Some of the aspects of human resource management include planning and allocating resources, giving direction, vision, and objectives to the employees, creating a favorable working environment for the employees, and providing opportunities for personal development.Advertising Looking for report on business economics? Let's see if we can help you! Get your first paper with 15% OFF Learn More These aspects correlate with the idea that Pfeffer brings forward that the lack of a realistic understanding is what makes some individuals to be victorious than others. When an organization fails to implement these aspects of human resour ce management, a â€Å"just-world phenomenon† crops in and the organization cannot adequately fulfill the demands of the workforce. In any organization, change is an unavoidable occurrence and for the process to be successful, every change and innovation initiatives should be carefully implemented. On the other hand, Pfeffer points out that power is an instrumental tool that can be used in improving the health as well as the wealth of an individual. However, it is of essence to note that this can only happen when whatever changes that takes place are managed appropriately and in order. In today’s busy work environment, all employees experience work-related stresses that can impair their productivity if not handled in good time. However, Pfeffer points out that this cannot be the situation when employees have power. This power will make them to make decisions that will avoid the work-related stresses. For example, he points out that employees should â€Å"worry about t he relationship they have with their bosses at least as much as they worry about your job performance† (para. 9). Leadership is an essential management skill that entails providing the employees with direction, planning, evaluation, motivation, and setting the example. Therefore, in the absence of effective leadership, an organization cannot adequately meet its objectives. On leadership, Pfeffer goes contrary to the popular notion that is being promoted by many ubiquitous leadership literatures that for one to gain power, he or she has to ‘gloss over the power plays.† Therefore, as a leader, one ought to possess the ability to motivate the employees towards a common goal, without having to ‘gloss over’ his or her influence. In an organization, the employees should be able to trust themselves and the management should also be able to trust the employees that they are able to accomplish the assigned tasks. In absence of this, disagreements can erupt. In emphasizing this aspect, Pfeffer notes, â€Å"therefore, your first responsibility is to ensure that those at higher levels in your company know what you are accomplishing. And the best way to ensure they know what you are achieving is to tell them so that they can trust you† (para. 4). Lastly, group development involves a series of stages in which a group is established with an intention of fulfilling a particular objective in an organization. On this, Pfeffer points out that â€Å"no one is going to perform equally well on all the dimensions of their working in a group. What you can do is consistently emphasize those aspects on which you do well in a group† (para. 5).Advertising We will write a custom report sample on Power: Why Some People Have It-and Others Dont by Jeffrey Pfeffer specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More Pfeffer, Jeffrey. â€Å"Power: Why Some People Have Itand Others Dont.† Amazon Kindle. Having more mothers in the work force has changed the way many kids Essay

Having more mothers in the work force has changed the way many kids grow up - Essay Example Women participation incivic development could be primary reason for the decline of race. Child care living at home coincides withengagement in the social downturn and it becomes enigma to create balance between children brought up and social trend at workplace.More mothers in workplace drags lots of effects on children. For instance Mother absence at home attracts pre adolescents towards TV, and other discretionary activities i.e. playing, hobbies, clubs, outdoor activities, informal visiting eating unhealthy foods and just hanging out. Consequently heavy television watching and eating unhealthy food in the absence of mother increases aggressiveness, in turn reduces school achievement which is statistically associated with psychosocial malfunctioning. Such effects are enough to destroy child mother bond.Lots of deficiencies remain unattended in the personality of child at the time when they needs the proper brought up (Martha, 1994). For example if Asian mothers try to overcome such problems, the first step mothers take for entering in work field is they give children responsibility to their grandparents. As grandparents are no longer busier and need to have some activity for their rest of life. No doubt children bring lots of happiness and joy into their lives. Grandparents try to meet all requirements of their grandchildren, fulfill their needs, run behind them, and protect them from harm. But when children make mistakes they punish and grudge on them. Children’s growing up in such circumstances becomes very naughty, mischievous and self-centered. The second option is fathers take care of their children but such great husbands who support their wives career are rare. There is great difference between mother and father patience. Father can’t do all the jobs as mother also fathers get annoyed at little mistakes and snub the children the way mother never did. The children get fear of father and try to hide their feelings and problems in front

Estimating Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 250 words - 1

Estimating - Essay Example Therefore, the calculation of the height of the building will be as follows; This means that the height of the tower from the first floor is 108ft. However, in order to find the total height of the building from the ground floor, 15ft have to be added to the total 108ft. Therefore, the total estimated height of the tower from the ground floor to the indicated place will be 123ft. This estimation method is better since there is no information provided about the height of the floors. Even though the estimation method cannot provide accurate data, it is the best method for estimating the towers length up to the indicated place. In order to calculate the total load the foundation of the tower must carry, assumptions have to be made based on the universal measurements used for the construction of towers and buildings. One can assume that the tower is 8m wide and 16m long, the wall, that is above the foundation, is 1.0kN/ m, the piers are 300mm, and the walls are 200mm thick. The mass of the concrete used in the construction is 2400kg/m3. Below is the calculation for each floor which will later be multiplied by the number of floors present in the tower. From the calculations above, the total amount of load on the foundation is equaled to 324 * 10 = 3240kN. The factor 10 has been used since it is the number of floors that are evident in the image provided. The result obtained are a rough estimate since there are no accurate data provided by the

The Artistic Aspect of Architecture Essay -- Architectural Building Ar

The Artistic Aspect of Architecture Architecture is undeniably one of the most powerful forms of art. Buildings have the ability to loom in the distance when seen from afar. As you approach it more and more details can be seen. Minute intricacies such as stone quality, texture, and perhaps some ornate detailing become apparent. Even standing at a doorway can provide some involved feelings. Does the building seem to invite the viewer inside with elaborate carvings and an open view to the interior? Or does it intimidate the viewer with its massive proportions making them feel insignificant and trivial? When inside the architecture as a medium the viewer is surrounded by and grasped within its walls and ceiling. This quality is one unique to architecture because it is the only form of art to totally surround its viewer with such magnitude. Whether one turns to the left or right, looks up or down, ceilings or walls are constantly presented to the viewer who stands amidst the intended space and substance. A line is drawn between buildings erected to serve a mere function and those which are made to integrate an influential quality into all who happen to see them often through use of extravagance. The latter can be propelled into greatness based on whether or not they are successful in carrying out with this vision set forth by their creators. This is what sets apart an ordinary building from an impressive and monumental wonder. It is interesting to note how a building is set apart from others of its time when this building is made to represent the people as a whole. Of course this building will surpass the more ordinary ones juxtaposed within the city. Of course the society or ruler would like to put their â€Å"best ... ...d and venerated being. On the other hand, Judas’ fate of damnation is shown by his contact with the devil clutching him. A final statement is made in the Scrovegni Chapel on behalf of all the buildings discussed here. God is depicted at the top of the altar dispatching Gabriel. God is placed at the top to honor Him and show His superiority to all that enter the chapel. Man’s yearning to glorify God (or gods in the case of the Pantheon) has been the key driving force in the construction of many fabulous buildings. Granted there are those that deviate from this pure motive in order to satisfy self-glorification through the artwork, but basically the root of all these wonders is the chance to glorify the Supreme Being. It is wonderful to see the end results now and witness how art is so much a part of worship and of the success of architectural organization.

Mac & Cheese Essay

The article â€Å"Why Games are Good for You† by Steven Johnson presents reasons why electronic video games are not harmful. While other people have written and talked about the harms that video games bring to young people. , Steven Johnson argues just the opposite. He says that video games have many benefits including making us smarter. Steven Johnson begins his article by describing what the critics say about video games. First, they are a great waste of time says Dr. Spock. At their worst, they promote violent responses from children. The main argument about video games is that they take away from children reading. Then the author presents the reasons that reading is so good for people. However, the author then says that a lot of the criticism about video games is because they are being judged by old standards by people who believe reading is the main way for children to learn skills. He asks the reader to think of a world where video games came before books. Then he argues that the criticisms of books would look a certain way. The criticisms are the author’s way of showing benefits of video games, like they are three-dimensional, and they have strong visual images and sound. The user uses complex motor skills to navigate them. Also, he shows that the children interact with the games and can control what ha ppens in them. Steven Johnson then shows that the arguments used against books in this made up situation are like the ones used for video games. They do not show the benefits of reading like using the imagination or the shared experience of reading the same story. The arguments against video games are limited also says the author. He says if you compare video games to books, then the games will not be judged well because the two are so different. Next, he talks again about the benefits of reading like concentration and making sense of words and meanings. After showing how reading brings many benefits, he then argues that some of the benefits of readings are found with video games. He says, â€Å"By almost all the standards we use to measure reading’s cognitive benefits—attention, memory, following threads and so on—the nonliterary popular culture has been steadily growing more challenging over the past thirty years† (485). Research is showing in the last few years that people who play video games regularly are gaining important skills. In fact, Steven Johnson argues that â€Å"Increasingly the nonliterary popular culture is honing different mental skills that are just as important as the ones exercised by reading books† (485). He provides examples of why he believes this. Steven Johnson does not agree with critics of video games who believe they are not only a waste of time for children, but can cause harm. Instead, he argues that video games provide many benefits and skills for children including motor skills, interaction with a narrative, a rich landscape of sounds and images and so forth. Other researchers are starting to agree that video games are providing some benefits. Steven Johnson believes that video games should be valued more, but he also suggests that reading is still important. The main point, though, is that parents and others should stop thinking that video games are all bad and appreciate the value they bring to the child.

Corporate Social Responsibility ( Csr ) - 1216 Words

The idea of a perfectly clear and all-encompassing definition of corporate social responsibility (CSR) has been much deliberated and remains controversial. The research of Marrewijk (2013, p.95) elaborated on the significance of this ongoing debate among academics, consultants and corporate executives which results in creating, supporting and criticising of different concepts. This essay illuminates CSR principles, consider different definitions and concepts and relates it to my definition. Furthermore, it supports companies’ interest in CSR only for profit maximisation. Notably, the ideals which Friedman (1962) clearly stressed: ‘Few trends could so thoroughly undermine the very foundations of our free society as the acceptance by corporate officials of a social responsibility other than to make as much money for their stockholders as possible’ (p.133). He argued the desideratum of any other social responsibility for businessmen other than that of making maximum profits for their stockholders to exist. He reasoned the unavailability of determinant factors of such social responsibilities, taking into account that it is neither efficient nor reliable to enforce nebulous social responsibilities on corporations. Consequently, they opine that the concept of CSR is inimical to sound business practices and strays away from the basics of wealth creation (Clement-Jones, 2005; Murray, 2005; Jamli and Sidani, 2008). The story is set between an aristocratic lady Natalya Vladimirovna and a poor man Pyotr Sergeyitch who have a deep affection for one another, during haymaking season which is in the summer months. We feel the youth, energy and freshness of the warmth of this season. There is a thunderstorm which is threatening and eventually bursts upon them.†¦show more content†¦It would have been good to see her character well balanced and set on something that was out of her control. She had a lot to learn and had a lot to offer in return. One wise man once said â€Å"It is better to be hated for what you are than to be loved for what you are not† . Unfortunately Pyotr fell into Natalyas category of a hero of modern romance which was timid, spiritless, lazy and oversensitive. Pyotr at the end of this story fits this description and looks like a broken man. The story ignites the senses to the past when she smells the hay and has nostalgic, warm feelings towards the past. At this po int in the story she realises the true loss of her love and mourns it. We cannot go back in time, we have to live in the present reality. Her father dies, she ages. Her memory remains strong and clear but she sees the present day as cold and bleak. They meet again on her territory at her house and he is staring at the fire and the comfort he is getting from its warmth. In many ways both are driven by the memory of the past. They both long for what had passed away between them and sadly what life refused them now. Rank and wealth are not thought about now in her eyes. She releases her emotions in an outburst of tears, both sharing feelings of sorrow for each other. Could this not have been a perfect opportunity for reconciliation and renewal? Privacy and Twitter Free Essays

Executive Summary Twitter Inc. was established in 2006 in California, United States. It provides free services to users, which enables them to send short messages (up to 140 characters long) called â€Å"tweets† to keep their friends and followers up-to-date with what they are doing. We will write a custom essay sample on Privacy and Twitter or any similar topic only for you Order Now It helps users to share information with the rest of the world. Twitter experienced rapid growth worldwide and became one of the most popular social networking and micro-blogging sites in 2010. Although the company gained substantial popularity, its main sources of revenue are still from venture capital and promoted tweets. Twitter’s long-term survival depends on its own ability to generate revenue. The founders of the company want to know how to open up more channels to generate revenue, while respecting users’ privacy concern. After viewing Facebook and Google’s privacy missteps, Twitter and its partners Google and Microsoft are more uncertain as to whether they should develop the data-mining platform to gain extra revenue. If they do, what should they mine and how should they prevent themselves from breaching privacy laws? This report will outline the issues Twitter’s founders are facing and give three options the company can undertake to achieve its goal, followed by a recommendation. This report will also evaluate Canada’s privacy law – PIPEDA and examine how Twitter’s Privacy Policy complies with the PIPEDA. Stakeholders and Preferences Founders of Twitter: Jack (Chairman), Evan (CEO) and Biz (Creative Director) want to their company to grow and succeed in the long run. As well, they want to find a safer way to utilize the database, which contains personal information and personal messages, to generate revenue, and respect their legal and ethical obligation to their users at the same time. Users of Twitter: They use Twitter to share personal information and keep their followers up to date with new events. They want to make sure the company is protecting their privacy and their personal information is not being used in any unethical or illegal way. The two Partners: Google and Microsoft are both very interested in the data-mining project as they see the potential of generating large amount of revenue. They work with Twitter to find a way to effectively use data to generate revenue. Meanwhile, they are both concerned over privacy issues, given the sensitive information they are dealing with. Regulators: Oversee Twitter from a legal perspective. They provide guidelines on how to use personal information in a way that protects Twitter users’ privacy. They make sure Twitter follows the privacy laws and they actively make changes to the law to deal with arising issues. Government: They make sure Twitter practices its business under the laws and make sure that Twitter provides benefit to the society, instead of harm. Other Developers and Marketers: Developers, such as SalesForce. com, develop application for other organizations to take advantage of Twitter’s public tweets as a way of making profit. Marketers want to use Twitter’s information to make money as well. They depend on valuable information they obtain from Twitter to make money and would not want Twitter to take a way this right/ this market. Issues Facing the Founders of Twitter Issue 1: Company’s lack of long term revenue generating plan Twitter’s main source of capital is from venture capital and promotional tweets. In order for Twitter to survive in the long term, they should open up more channels to generate revenue so they are able to grow and provide better service to their 100+ million users. In addition, it will help them stay competitive in the social networking service industry. Company is facing difficulty in coming up with a revenue generation plan to make their business more sustainable and profitable in the long run. Issue 2: How to use the data obtained in a legal and ethical way Twitter has a database with abundant data. The issue that Twitter is facing right now is efficiently utilizing the data and turning it into revenue. After examining the failure due to misuse of users’ personal information by Google and Facebook, Twitter is more concerned about the legal and ethical issue in using user’s sensitive information to generate revenue. Issue 3: Raising concern over privacy by the governments, regulators and users The company needs to be more cautious when dealing with personal information or personal tweets in this nature. Moreover, different countries have their own privacy laws. Twitter needs to follow multiple privacy laws closely to avoid potential lawsuits. This creates additional difficulty for Twitter since they have users from all over the world. Issue 4: Lack of specific company policies to protect information ethics and information privacy if it decides to develop the platform for data-mining The company needs detailed policies to protect information ethics and information privacy when implementing a data mining platform. Lack of consideration in this area will put the company in danger, following severe consequences. Issue 5: Not fully using its own resources Many developers already developed many applications that use Twitter’s public tweets to generate profit. However, Twitter is still holding on to all of the precious data and not utilizing it. Twitter is going to lose its competitive advantage if they don’t take the necessary steps soon. Twitter will have to compete with developers in the future in terms of application development for its’ users. Issue 6: Security breaches, code cracking and hackers They bring a huge threat to Twitter’s online information safety and its reputation. As a result, many users may lose confidence to the company and eventually withdraw. Twitter will not only lose a significant amount of users, but also become less attractive to the investors. The company may face bankruptcy if the situation severs. Management needs to come up with enhanced technologies to fight against the threats from code crackers and hackers. Options for Twitter’s management Twitter’s general goal stated in the case is to â€Å"monetize their business model while concurrently respecting their legal and ethical obligations to their users†. Following are some of the options management can consider to achieve this goal. Option 1: Establish an in-house data mining division. This division will take requests from external marketers and convert related data into information through consolidation and sell the aggregated information to marketers. Twitter will disclose the purpose of collecting this data on their website and give opt-in option to users. Pros: Twitter can sell the requested information to marketers to generate a significant amount of revenue. The information can also be sold to people in other fields, such as anthropologists and sociologists. These people can use the information to better the study of human behaviour, which will benefit the society as mentioned in the case. In other words, the potential market for Twitter is very broad. The information extracted from the data will help Twitter make better corporate decisions, better customer service and perhaps open up more business opportunities for the company in the future. Another big benefit to this option is that it will not breach user’s privacy as the information is consolidated, which means the marketers will not see individual’s private information. The disclosure of the purpose of collecting the data along with the opt-in option will make Twitter further in compliance with the privacy law. Cons: There will be additional risk associated with this option because it is a new venture for the company with no prior experience. The company needs to spend more effort to establish rules and carefully oversee the entire operation to avoid risks. This option requires money. The company needs to spend money in hiring and providing training to division manager, supervisors and employees to carry out the operation. In addition, any work related to data mining will expose the company to some degree of privacy and security issues. Although this option can eliminate a big portion of these concerns, issues can still arise that will hurt the company in the long run if not handled properly. Option 2: Give users the option to opt-in of releasing some private data that are non-identifiable such as age, gender, or general location in exchange for small incentive such as extra tweet characters. Sell those non-identifiable private data in addition to the public data such as public tweets directly to external marketers, while keeping the identifiable private data such as user address or private tweets. Twitter will disclose the purpose of collecting these data on their website. Pros: This option definitely respects user’s concern over privacy issues because it provides users the option to opt-in of releasing their non-identifiable private data to third party. Although the marketers can collect the public data, it’s time consuming to develop a legal third party program that will go over all the pages and all the tweets from different individuals. The option provides marketers the convenience to collect data. Twitter can obtain revenue from this service and reduce the level of concern over privacy and legal issues. Cons: Twitter may face intense competition over this option. One reason is that some tech companies already developed applications for extracting public information to help marketers collect useful public data/ tweets. Some companies even help the marketers to monitor conversation on Twitter and bring important tweets to the attention of the company. If there are already many competitions in the market, Twitter might have to lower the price to compete with them. This will effect their revenue generation. Another concern is if the marketers misuse the data, Twitter will be held responsible. If people don’t trust Twitter and withdraw from the website, Twitter will lose revenue. Therefore, risks still exist to a certain extent. Option 3: Do not do anything with the data. Keep them for internal business development purpose. Find alternative ways to generate revenue such as adding advertisements on user’s homepage Pros: This is the safest option out of the three. This option illustrates that Twitter has good business ethics and has strong sense of protecting users’ privacy. This not only helps Twitter in building up the company’s reputation, but also establishes trust relationship with users. As for the advertisements, it’s the company’s own responsibility to target their customers, but will definitely need to get approval from Twitter. Twitter will give users the option to display advertisement on their page and share the profit with the user as an incentive. This way, Twitter shows their respect to users and it’s a win-win situation for both parties. Cons: Twitter will not be utilizing their data resources to its full potential because they will be only using it for internal business development. Also, this option may not help Twitter in generating sufficient revenue as their income depends on the users’ willingness to display advertisement on their homepage. This is an external factor that is out of management’s control. Recommendation After evaluating all the options, I would recommend option 1- which is to execute a data-mining division, analyse the data and sell out the aggregated information to the marketers. This option gives the company more opportunities to generate revenue because it allows hem to use its data resource to the full potential, also reduce the risk of breaching the privacy laws. The company needs to have a detailed and thorough implementation plan in order to get the best results out of this option. Below are the recommendations for this option. Install employee monitoring system in the new division: The company is liable for their employees’ actions and the risks they take, (especially with the user’s sensitive information t hey are handling) therefore, monitoring is necessary. The company must communicate the purpose behind this division and what actions are being monitored to its’ employees. This will prevent How to cite Privacy and Twitter, Essay examples

Method Integrating The Anomaly Detection -Myassignmenthelp.Com

Question: Discuss About The Method Integrating The Anomaly Detection? Answer: Introduction The network intrusion detection system (IDE) is a system that helps in detecting various attacks in the network system. IDS can be placed on any network that helps in collecting data and information for providing security to the networks. Algorithms are required in order to perform detection of attacks in a network system. The Next Generation Intrusion Detection Expert System (NIDES) has helped in maintaining the security of the network system by the use of the psychology and statistical model. The use of IDS has helped in maintaining the security of the data and information in the network server of the company [1]. This method comprises with detection rate of both known and unknown attacks is enhanced. There are some proposed intrusion detection algorithms including decision tree, one-class support vector machine and hybrid intrusion detection method. Decision tree method works on divided and conquers method with a recursive procedure. The primary application of the Decision tree algorithms are for providing data and divide into corresponding classes. Where Gain(S, A) is gain of set S after a split over the A attribute; Entropy(S) is the information entropy of set S. The entropy is as follows: A one-class support vector machine has been used by a various organization in order to protect from network attacks. The algorithm of this system is as follows: Where w is vector orthogonal to hyperplane, n = [n1,.. nl] is vector of slack variables used to penalize rejected instances, and q represent margin, i.e. distance of the hyperplane from origin. The detection rate of hybrid detection methods can be more than 99% without considering performance of first-class SVM model. Next step is testing step of algorithms using the MATLAB. The training time of proposed algorithms is measured to analyze the time complexity. Therefore, the use of these algorithms might help in maintaining the security of the network system. Different viruses and malware are detected with the helped of the network intrusion detection system in the network system. The use of the multi-core parallel system has helped in creating a favourable condition for computing systems and its networks References [1] Kim, Gisung, Seungmin Lee, and management Kim. The Funeral free essay sample

It was a gloomy day; the car was silent as we drove to the funeral home. It seemed like time was moving extra fast and my stomach seemed to be in my throat. When we pulled up in front of the funeral home my heart beat faster and I was now gagging on my stomach. The rain beat down hard as I said ‘hello’ to my relatives and family friends. The cold empty air hit me as I strolled to say hi to my aunt who was talking. With my pictures in my hand I walked up to the casket that I knew I would not be able to stand. As I looked down I broke out with tears, as fought to hold them back my cries began to become louder and I could now feel people hovering over me whispering unrecognized words. I then gained enough strength to put my pictures above his head as I could not take it any longer I had to walk away. We will write a custom essay sample on The Funeral or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page I sat in the back of the funeral home crying for what seemed like hours. I had a pair of sunglasses on so that they would cover my eyes, my tears, and my pain but most importantly me. With the glasses on I felt no one could see me and they would all leave me alone. All I wanted at that moment was someone to understand, but at that moment all that came to mind was my favorite cousin, Keyona. She was my first cousin on my dad’s side and my mother’s first cousins daughter, so I was related to her on both sides of the family. We both had an equal relationship with our grandfather plus she’s only a year younger than I am. Even though I had sisters, they were all too busy to understand my pain. I felt as if they didn’t understand, and that they didn’t know how much pain I was going through. As I flipped open my phone and dialed her number, a certain relief came over me when she answered in her sweet voice, but I felt certain guilt when all she could hea r was pain in mine. We led on into conversation about who was there and how far away she was from being there. I just couldn’t wait until she came. When I hung up with her I rested my head down until she was there, but I couldn’t sit there anymore. I got up and went out 2 feel the warm summer air that blew. My arms, legs, and nose were cold from just sitting there. As I sat next to the door I saw my cousin come inside and all I could do was smile. I gave her a kiss on the cheek and let her go inside to see our grandfather. When she came back I could plainly see that she was tearing up. I just gave her a hug, and I don’t know what it was about that hug, but we both broke down in each others arms. With no words exchanged I could feel that no matter how many friends I have my cousin will always be my best friend. There was nothing that any friend and I can encounter that my cousin and I hadn’t already gone through. When the service started the immediate fam ily (children, grandchildren, sisters, nieces, and nephews) all came in while the rest of the family and friends stood there. I felt as everyone put pity on the fact that my grandfather had just passed away and that they all were staring at me. Since my mother made me take off the sunglasses, my tear filled red eyes were piercing straight forward making little to no eye contact. I held my cousins hand and we proceeded to our seats. When we sat down, we sat right next to each other comforting one another. Half way through the sermon tears were still falling down my eyes and I felt as if I could not cry anymore. Then it all just stopped, the talking, the tears, the pain, all at once, but I knew that it would not last long. I just sat there staring at the red flower arrangements all I could feel was my cousin pushing me up to go the bathroom with her. When we got into the bathroom there was barely any talking until my little cousins came following. The words they spoke, sounded like t hey didn’t even care that we were feeling hurt at all. ‘Dag, Shareece I ain’t even know you and Keyona was that emotional.’ There was not one ‘Are you guy’s alright?’ nothing like it. I just looked at them and smiled. I couldn’t feel anger at the way they turned their noses up at us, all I felt was emptiness. I figure now that they’re too young to realize that when you lose someone a certain pain comes over you that you would have never thought would. When we sat back down, there was no more grief between us we just listened to the preacher preach and nodded our heads back. Then he asked if anyone had any stories to tell about him. All my strength I built up slowly broke down as I heard people talking about him. The jokes, laughter, and memories all made me sad once again. Then it was my turn to say the poem I had and as I read the poem everything was gone. After that I don’t remember anything else but leaving the funeral home. Poem: by Unknown If tears could build a stairway, And memories were a lane. I would walk right up to heaven, To bring you home again. No farewell words were spoken, No time to say good-bye. You were gone before I knew it, And only God knows why. My heart still aches in sadness, And secret tears still flow. What it meant to lose you, No one will ever know. You and angels around Gods happy throne. I would have held you closer if I had known The pain of losing a family member can always be hard, but when you lose someone so close to you after watching them suffer can always be a heartbreaker. Though it would have been a miracle if my grandfather survived his medical complications, I still had hope. I’m just grateful that I had family and friends there to support me through everything.
